Boys Basketball Divisionals Recap

The Lions take home the second place trophy and will go to the State tournament for the first time since 1995.

• Saturday (2022 Divisional (Western B) Championship)

Bigfork 55, Eureka 51 (OT): Bryce Gilliard led with 14 points, and Isak Epperly and Levi Taylor produced 10 points each to lead the Vikings past the Lions for the divisional crown. Bigfork led 21-10 after one quarter before Eureka clawed back by winning the second half 23-15 to send it into overtime, which the Vikings won 10-6. Gavin Bates led all scorers with 21 points for the Lions, who nevertheless qualified for the state tournament for the first time since 1995.

Friday (Divisional Semi-final)

• Eureka 56, Florence-Carlton 51: Gavin Bates came up big again with 23 points and Joey Kindel backed him with 12 as the Lions roared to a 13-point halftime lead and withstood a late push by the Falcons to clinch a berth in the final. Dan Dunn added nine for Eureka, which will face Bigfork for the divisional crown Saturday. Beau Neal scored 18, Blake Shoupe 13 and Caden Zaluski nine for Florence-Carlton.

Thursday

Eureka 65, Deer Lodge 37: Gavin Bates continued his hot shooting with 22 points and Danny Dunn provided 10 for the Lions, who bolted to a 34-13 halftime lead and whipped the Wardens. Tristan Butts added eight for Eureka. Logan Nicholson scored 15 and Ripley Ford 10 for Deer Lodge.
