Erik Casazza, Class of 2022

Erik Daniel Casazza is a senior golfer for the Eureka Lions. He is in his third season of high school golf after his sophomore year was shut down due to COVID-19.

Erik didn’t qualify for state his freshman year, there was no golf his sophomore year, and he tied for fourth place in his junior year with a 82.

Eric predicts he can place first this year (State Champion!), but he will be fine with anything on the podium.

We asked, “What do you have to do to place well at state?” He said, “Putt well, don't lose my head.”

Through his four years of high school, Erik has participated in Honor Society for three years, and maintained a 4.0 his freshman year. Although he has not maintained a 4.0 through his career, he still is a solid student, and brings intelligence to the classroom. Erik looks to continue his success with future plans including college. He said that he could see himself attending college somewhere in Arizona, but later stated that those plans had fell through. On the other hand, He has been accepted by Montana Tech and plans on pursuing a major in electrical engineering. He is also open to any new opportunities that might arise, such as “going to another school” he said. On top of his academic success, he continues to golf and has for most of his life.

Golf is one of Erik’s passions and along with that passion comes one of his role models, Mark Fenech. Mark was a PGA Professional at the Indian Springs Golf Course, and majored in Business Administration and Management. He is a mentor for Erik and has experience being a Professional. Fenech has taken Erik under his wing, giving him advice and being a role model for him.

Erik also said his dad, Luke, is someone he looks up to. When asked why he looks up to his dad he responded saying “I look up to him because he is someone who has been successful, and he never stops working hard toward something. He also loves to see me improve and is a great mentor.”

Erik is a diligent student at Lincoln County High School. He averages 3.67 and is always working to improve. Erik plans to improve his ACT scores as well.

Erik participated in many sports but due to concussions, basketball and football are out of the picture. Golf is Erik’s passion.

The most recent golf tournament Erik attended was located in Hamilton at Stock Farm Club and was exclusive for the top two players from each team. He placed fourth and said that was disappointing. He also said it was a great experience and thinks it will be one of his favorite memories.

Erik has a passion for the Lord. He always wants to put Christ first even before sports and other activities. He also thanks his community and family for all the support through his highschool career. Erik also said, “I love the support by the school and community.”

Erik’s friend Zach Stenslie states, “He’s a nice person but he’s weird about golf.”

Zach looks up to Erik and could see him having a professional career in golf.

Erik will continue to pursue his passion for golf, and will also have success in college studying electrical engineering. Erik will show off his skills at the Class B State Tournament on May 17-18 and the Divisional tournament at Fairmont Golf Course.
