In both the boys and girls at the District Tournament, the finishing order for teams was identical.
Bigfork, 2. LCHS / Eureka, 3. Mission / St. Ignatius, 4. Thompson Falls
Those four teams advance to the Divisional Tournament in Ronan (2/24 to 2/26).
Plains and Troy, in girls and boys, were eliminated and finished their seasons in the Bigfork gym.
Coming into the tournament, the St.Ignatius boys team was ranked third in the State B ranking by 406mtsports.com. They were the only team in the boys bracket to be ranked in the top ten. The 15-2 record for Mission now stands at 17-3, but the Bulldogs placed third.
On the girls side of the bracket, Bigfork (17-1) came into the tournament ranked third in the state, while Thompson Falls was ranked 10th.
These rankings don’t matter in the “new” season of playoffs. Survive and advance becomes the motto at tournament time. The top four teams at District advance to Divisionals, while the top two teams at Divisionals advance.
